We celebrated World Maths Day in Nursery on Wednesday 8th March. Our focus was measures so we decided to see how tall all the boys and girls are in Nursery. They had to make a big decision of which colour of wool they would like to measure them. Mrs Birt stuck the wool to the bottom of the door. After that the boys and girls took it in turns to stand against the door very still and straight and Mrs Birt measured them with the wool. We put their photo at the top of their piece of wool so they could see their own height and all their friends. Our next activity was Compare Bears. Our challenge was to find bears in the box that matched the pattern on our card. We had to look carefully because the bears were different sizes and colours. We needed to make sure the bear of the correct size and colour went on the right place. Sometimes we thought we had it right, but it was too big or too small and it needed to be changed. There was lots of concentration for this activity and great use of mathematical language. All the boys and girls successfully completed the Compare Bears Challenge.
