Well Being Wednesday - 16th June 2021

16th Jun 2021

This month we are focusing on the theme of celebrations and this week we are celebrating sport. Throughout the school all classes are participating in their own individual class ‘Sport’s Day.’ This may be a little different kind of Sport’s Day than we had previously but the boys and girls are really enjoying participating in the various activities, achieving success and bringing home an odd medal or two. Visit our school website, and in particular the individual class pages, to see some fantastic pictures of our various class sports events.
Also we are very thankful to Portaferry GAC for continuing to deliver our after schools programme. Each week we have over 100 pupils taking part across the three days and we are so appreciative of the various coaches for giving up to their time to work with our pupils.
Today was the last session Ruth had in our school. This week it was the turn of our Primary 7 class and I know they really enjoyed these relaxing sessions- I am also reliably told that some enjoyed it so much they feel asleep- they must have been very tired after taking part in so much sport this week! We again thank Ruth for her great sessions with all of our classes. I was delighted to receive an email from Ruth after she left our school and I would like to take this opportunity to share this with you;

“I wanted to write to you all to say what an absolute pleasure it has been to work with each and every year group.
Throughout each class the children were attentive and engaged. They communicated and expressed themselves clearly and were keen to try the various relaxation techniques and exercises.
I was so impressed by the overall feel of the school. It is clear that it is run with a child-centred approach and it was very apparent from the children how they are taught with compassion and looked after whole-heartedly within a safe and nurturing environment. I have worked in many schools and I have never come across such a welcoming community feel.” It is great to hear this from a visitor to our school.
