On Friday, as part of our World Around Us topic we went to Castlewellan Forest Park for a Mini-beast Hunt.We started our journey by getting the ferry across to Strangford and then went by bus to Castlewellan. Once there we met our fantastic tour guides Liz and Petra.
They took us on an adventure through the woods, stopping in different locations looking for different bugs. Liz explained why they like to live in these types of habitats. We even got to catch some and examine them closer in small clear containers. Before we released them, we made bug hotels using leaves and twigs that we found lying on the ground for them to live in.
Petra and Liz, gave us mini paint card palettes that we filled with different colours using leaves, petals and woodland materials. To finish our fun trip we got to play in the Animal Wood play park.
