P4 Believe, Achieve, Succeed!🌟

18th Nov 2022

It has been another fantastic week in school for P4. They thoroughly enjoyed all the Anti-Bully Week work in class and in the school assemblies. They looked at the c2k Newsdesk and listened to lots of strategies for dealing with and helping bullies. They listened to a podcast about how Ed Sheeran had been bullied as a child and how he turned his life around with the support of great friends and family. P4 also worked on lots of positive affirmations and ‘feel good’ activities this week in class. A big thank you to Cora, Orna, Fionn and Niamh from P7 who helped out with some lovely ‘Friendship’ work too.

The Book Fair was in this week and P4 certainly made the most of it with lots of visits to enjoy all the wonderful books. They also completed lots of Accelerated Reader quizzes on the IPads and on the computers to help their reading comprehension skills. P4 got to grips with lots of grammar and punctuation work from their new Collins Treasure House series. For spellings, it was the ‘oo’ sound made in lots of ways especially ‘ue’, ‘ew’ and ‘ou’.

During Numeracy, it was all about vertical addition this week and carrying/exchanging extra tens when needed during calculations. Mrs O’Neill was so impressed with how everyone coped with these lessons and even more delighted with more amazing Mathletics work too.

As they continued through their ‘Grow in Love’ programme P4 found out about John the Baptist and how he prepared the way for Jesus. There will be lots of P4 preparations for Christmas with lots of hymns, carols and songs to be learned at home and in school over the next few weeks.

P4 continued to ‘shine their light’ with so many talented boys and girls this week. Amazing artists, lots of football and hurling stars, Irish dancing winners, super swimmers and Mathletics Mathematicians. Mrs O’Neill is so proud of everyone for all their achievements.

Finally, P4 wish Portaferry hurlers much success for their big game this weekend. They certainly flew their flags for them in colourful style!
