Friday 12 June - Final Sports Day Challenge

12th Jun 2020

Thank you once again to Ciara Mageean for finishing our "Virtual Sports Week" challenges. https://www.stmaryspsportaferry.com/news/friday-12-june---final-sports-day-challenge-/?p=1&tags=,1088, A great and fitting end to a great week of challenges.  Big thanks and appreciation must also go to all of our teachers for putting together their daily challenges for you all to enjoy. However, most of all, a big thank you to our boys and girls who participated throughout the week. You all seemed to enter into the spirit of the challenges and I loved to hear stories of great enjoyment, fun and laughter throughout the week. Your certificates will be in the post later this month.

Unfortunately the weather was not so kind to us today so if you have postponed this challenge to later in the weekend, make sure to also send in your pictures and i will post them onto our web site. Also if any of you have been completing the challenges and have yet to send in any pictures you can still do so to pgilchrist570@c2kni.net

Caoimbhe (P6) was first in today and confirmed that she had a great time participating in all of our challenges this week. Donal (P6) also really enjoyed these challenges and Ethan (P7) and Chloe (P6) were so disappointed that this was the end of the challenges. EvaMarie (P5) and Isla (P1)admitted to having a hectic week. In yesterdays challenges EvaMarie got 8 in the over and under and she was delighted she beat Mr Gilchrist 🤣. Isla achieved 7 in the over and under.  EvaMarie had 30 ball catches and she kept a good rhythm as counting the seconds was her strategy and Isla got 11 ball catches. In todays challenge with Ciara Mageean Isla completed all challenges in 1min 42seconds!!! The poor onion was definitely not worth cooking after that!! EvaMarie did it in 59 seconds. EvaMarie thinks the improvising of an onion in the pot was definitely alot easier than a hurl and ball would have been.. but Ciara was right - it was soo heavy as 2 hands were needed!! Oscar enjoyed all 4 of these challenges today and together with his mum they wondered if they could really beat an Olympic Athlete?? They didn't count but had great fun. Leah (Nursery) really enjoyed this week and every morning she couldn't wait to see the new video. However as good as this was she still would have loved the real sports day. We all agree with that Leah. Daithi (P5) and Callie (Nursery) also loved Ciara's challenge and had great fun trying all of her challenges today. Seán (P3) done very well today and got a time of 43 seconds. Leo (Nursery) got of to a great start but got frustrated with the ball taps finishing with a time of 1 minute 49 seconds.

Have a great weekend everyone.
