Friday 12 June - Final Sports Day Challenge

12th Jun 2020

Before i begin with todays photographs we have another birthday to celebrate. Yesterday it was Jamie's (P3) birthday. My apologies i did not post this up yesterday but i hope you had a great day celebrating at home. All of the staff of St Mary's have also asked me to pass on their birthday wishes to you too!

Last night we had many more pictures sent in for Thursday's challenges. Carli (P4) had 31 throws and 6 over and under while Bella (P1) was delighted to have beaten Mr Gilchrist with a score of 6 in the over and under. Keelan (P4) managed 28 ball catches and Brooke (P2) 10.  The over and under challenge saw Keelan get 8 goes and Brooke got 4. James (P4) really loved the catch and throw challenge as he could do it with his football!!He got 50 throws! He found the over and under a bit harder and managed 12 of them but may have left a bald patch on his granny’s newly sown lawn. Kayleigh (P1) got 6 over in the over and under and was very excited to have beaten Mr Gilchrist! She scored 14 with the ball bouncing challenge. Ethan (P7) and Chloe (P7) had more great fun and had an added bonus of their big brother Callum home early from work who also gave the challenges a go. In the throw and catch Ethan scored 24, Chloe scored 25 and Callum scored 35 and in the over and under Ethan managed 6 and was delighted to beat Mr Gilchrist, Chloe managed 7 and Callum managed 8. Hailey (P2) managed to tie with Mr Gilchrist with a score of 4 and really enjoyed the throw and catch challenge. Anya (P6) has also had a really enjoyable time competing in these challenges throughout the week and Patricia (P7) got 24 in the throw and catch challenge and her mum even joined in and got got 26.

We were delighted that Ciara Mageean agreed to finish our "Virtual Sports Week" challenges. She is always a willing and fantastic ambassador for the Portaferry area and did not hesitate to get involved when she got the call. We are deeply appreciative to her for doing this and is a fitting end to this weeks challenges. Unfortunately the weather is not being too kind to us today so you can move indoors or if you want to leave this challenge to the weekend, please just send in any pictures and i will upload them when we get a few together.
